This is an activity I wanted us to do as a family while Will was home...but it was one that had to be postponed due to over-planning. Will said...next time we shouldn't schedule so much stuff to do...

WHAT? NEXT TIME? Ummmmm, no!

Wednesday night...long day at work, and very tired and I was/am in the stage of "I'll-leave-the-bed-unmade-because-I-am-going-to-get-right-back-in-it-as-soon-as-I-can", after Will left. I know I'm not happy when I don't make my bed...it will not be made for probably the next three weeks...or so. But I had promised the kids we would go to Harwards and pick out some pumpkins. I was dreading walking through a pumpkin patch and refereeing children and decided to stop at this house on Main Street which is close to our house. They have a ton of pumpkins just in their front yard. I also got my lovely "Cinderella" pumpkin there a few weeks ago! No walking around in the mud or cold...they're already stacked and priced and ready to go. The kids had fun and it only took us about 30 minutes!

DONE!

When we got home, we had a WONDERFUL dinner made by the most super-woman ever! My friend Nancy B. has been so good to us since Will has left, and even before! She knows when I need help, or maybe my children put out some kind of distress call to her when they are FULL-TO-THE-MAX with Ramen noodles and cold cereal! I wish I was more like that! I am so blessed to have her and many other wonderful friends around me!

End the day. Pumpkins....check. YUMMY Dinner....check. Unmade bed....check. Missing Will....check, check!

It's begun...the silly pose age. BIIIIIG thumbs up for Jay's pumpkin!
Katie Jane holding either her second or third choice!
Lauren holding a different pumpkin than the one she chose too! You can see hers down below!
Emma had many other poses for me, but I didn't want to do a photo-shoot dans la pumpkin patch! She's a natural!

And Willie's contribution was to sneakily roll them off the front porch - I swear he did that - and chew every last stinkin' stem off of each pumpkin and then begin to gnaw at Laurens just to make her scream and cry! I wondered what was keeping him so busy outside!

We need a PPP - Pumpkin Protection Program

Sorry Julie,
I hope you don't mind me sneeking in to read your blog every now and then. You guys are an awesome family. I love to read your blogs , they make me laugh and cry! Brooke set me up to blog at the first of the summer but I'm not very good at it. I forget from one time to the next how to download the pictures and then I never blog if I don't have a picture. I'm learning from you how special it is to put down your thoughts and feelings and daily experiences. Your personality comes through so true that I can hear you talking. I need to do that too. Love you guys! Thanks for sharing! Auntie Jeri
